In an average week, how often does your child travel to school unaccompanied by a parent or guardian?
We walk or cycle to school every day in order to do our bit to keep the air clean, and because we enjoy having the time and headspace together at either end of the day! The kids also say that they like the fresh air and exercise before they start the school day.
• I spend quality time with my kids
• I get daily exercise
• New and / or safer crossings
• Restrict car access (pick up/drop off)
• Safe cycling and walking routes
• Secure bike parking outside the school
• Secure bike parking inside the school
• Pedestrian priority at crossings (automated)
• Double yellow lines close to the school
The amount of motor traffic outside school during drop-off and pick-up times makes walking and cycling to school hazardous, both in terms of the risk of accidents and air pollution.

How do you feel about your child travelling to school unaccompanied?
Why do you feel this way? (optional)
My son, who is in Year 5, has just started walking in with a friend one day a week. We walk behind with his sister, monitoring road crossing from a distance. He and his friend really enjoy this step towards independence.

We live a 10 minute walk from school so it’s easy to walk/scoot most days. I work in Lymm part of the week, so usually drive the kids on one day a week on the way to work. We try to park farther away and walk a few minutes.
• It's always a rush
• I feel safe
• Enhanced street design (art, sculpture, waymarking)
• Traffic calming (signs, chicanes, etc)
• Enforcement of existing rules of the road
I find the number of cars outside school has increased creating a lot of friction as drivers rush to get a spot close to school creating unsafe conditions and increasing air pollution
